Second Stage Round 9: MAFC - Jaszberenyi 66-79

14th ranked MAFC (5-26) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked Jaszberenyi (10-21) with the biggest margin this round 79-66 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Jaszberenyi. MAFC was better in third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Jaszberenyi dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to MAFC's 30. American swingman Brian Williams (196-92, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Haylett Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Brent Arrington (190-92, college: Morehead St.) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Five Jaszberenyi players scored in double figures. Jaszberenyi's coach Tibor Menku used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American point guard Deville Smith (183-91, college: Tenn-Martin, agency: Two Points) with 27 points and 4 assists and Croatian center Matija Poscic (206-85, college: De Paul) scored 7 points and 11 rebounds. Jaszberenyi maintains twelfth place with 10-21 record. Loser MAFC stay dead last with 26 lost games. Jaszberenyi will face higher ranked Atomeromu (#11) in Paks in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MAFC's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Budapest to the arena Vasas.
