Regular Season Round 1: Winterthur - Riva 79-68

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Riva (0-1) on the court of Winterthur on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Winterthur 79-68. The game was mostly controlled by Winterthur. Riva managed to win fourth quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Winterthur had a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international swingman Cinzia Tomezzoli (175-88) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners. American swingman Quiera Lampkins (175-95, college: Ohio, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Winterthur players scored in double figures. American forward Elan Brown (183-91, college: Vanderbilt) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 18 rebounds and the other American import guard Kelly Moten (173-93, college: Emporia St.) added 29 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals respectively for lost side. Riva's coach Walter Montini rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Winterthur is looking forward to face Pully (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Riva will play against Fribourg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
