Lakers used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Winterthur 76-67 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 44-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. DR Congolese-French forward Eric Katenda (206-92, college: N.Texas) stepped up and scored 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and swingman Axel Louissaint (197-96) chipped in 17 points. Four Lakers players scored in double figures. Lakers' coach Paolo Povia allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American point guard R.J. Price (180-93, college: Radford) responded with 26 points and the other American import center Sam Downey (206-94, college: Yale) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Lakers will face Geneve Lions on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Winterthur will play against Massagno (#4) and hope to win that game.
