Regular Season Round 1: Neuchatel - Fribourg 78-87
Date: September 30, 2017
Quite upsetting was Neuchatel's home defeat in a game versus Fribourg 87-78. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Neuchatel won third quarter 23-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Fribourg won last quarter 23-15. Fribourg outrebounded Neuchatel 38-25 including 23 on the defensive glass. Canadian Murphy Burnatowski (200-90, college: Colgate) fired 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Senegalese power forward Babacar Toure (205-85) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Andre Williamson (202-89, college: Appalachian St.) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Spencer Parker (201-93, college: Bowling Green, agency: Inception Sports) added 20 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Fribourg will meet at home Starwings (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Neuchatel will play against Boncourt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
