The game in Budapest supposed to be also quite interesting. UNI Gyor (2-0) played at the court of Vasas Akademia (1-2). UNI Gyor smashed Vasas Akademia 94-70 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 20-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 94-70. UNI Gyor dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Vasas Akademia's 42. UNI Gyor forced 20 Vasas Akademia turnovers and outrebounded them 38-22 including a 26-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. UNI Gyor looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Vasas Akademia's players. It was an exceptional evening for Canadian guard Nirra Fields (175-93, college: UCLA) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 7 rebounds. Naturalized American forward Cyesha Goree (190-93, college: Michigan, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four UNI Gyor players scored in double figures. Nigerian-American guard Ezinne Kalu (173-92, college: Savannah St., agency: GoaBasket) came up with 23 points and 4 steals (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and power forward Beatrix Meresz (184-99) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Vasas Akademia in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. UNI Gyor will meet at home Sopron Basket in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Vasas Akademia will play against ZTE NKK (#6) in Zalaegerszeg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
