Regular Season Round 4: Kaposvari - Kormend 86-78

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Kormend (2-1) on the court of top-ranked Kaposvari on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Kaposvari 86-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kormend. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kormend won third quarter 24-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kaposvari dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Kormend's 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Serbian forward Tomislav Ivosev (204-90, agency: 011 Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and the former international power forward Roland Hendlein (206-86) who added 22 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American guard Eric Fanning (196-92, college: Boston U.) responded with 25 points and 4 assists and the former international Csaba Ferencz (194-85) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Five Kaposvari and four Kormend players scored in double figures. Kormend's coach Gasper Potocnik rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kaposvari have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 3-0 record, which they share with Szolnok. Kormend at the other side dropped to the fourth place with one game lost. They share the position with Falco-Vulcano. Kaposvari is looking forward to face Sopron KC (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kormend will play against Falco-Vulcano (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
