Undefeated UMMC Junior (1-1) recorded its first loss in Ekaterinburg on Thursday night. Hosts were edged by seventh ranked Nika (2-2) 63-62. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Nika made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by UMMC Junior helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Marina Sheveleva (184-89) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Ekaterina Mashenkova (182-88) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Elizaveta Komarova (172-95, agency: LBM Management) produced 13 points and 6 rebounds and Daria Yalovaya added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four UMMC Junior players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Nika moved-up to second place, which they share with Stavropol and Samara. UMMC Junior at the other side dropped to the fifth position with one game lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Nika will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. UMMC Junior will play on the road against Stavropol (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
