Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Budapest: Vasas Akademia (#10) and MTK (#8). Vasas Akademia (2-3) won against visiting MTK (1-4) 68-59. MTK trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 20-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 59-68 at the end of the game. Vasas Akademia forced 21 MTK turnovers. Nigerian-American guard Ezinne Kalu (173-92, college: Savannah St.) stepped up and scored 12 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winners and international guard Vivien Borondy (175-95) chipped in 18 points. Flora Szabo (187-92) responded with 18 points and 8 rebounds and forward Lilla Adamecz (182-92) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vasas Akademia moved-up to seventh place. Loser MTK dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. They share it with PINKK-Pecsi. Vasas Akademia will meet at home higher ranked Cegledi EKK (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MTK will play against the league's leader Sopron Basket and will have a slim chance for a victory.
