Regular Season Round 5: PINKK-Pecsi - Miskolc 54-78

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Miskolc (4-1) smashed on the road 9th ranked PINKK-Pecsi (1-4) 78-54 on Saturday. Miskolc dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to PINKK-Pecsi's 24. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Czech forward Tereza Peckova (190-87) stepped up and scored 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and American guard Kirby Burkholder (183-92, college: JMU, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 14 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American center Shelby Cheslek (196-92, college: Gonzaga) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Slovenian forward Tina Jakovina (184-92) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Miskolc have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Sopron Basket. Loser PINKK-Pecsi keeps the ninth place with four games lost. They share the position with MTK. Miskolc will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. PINKK-Pecsi will play against BEAC-Ujbuda (#11) in Budapest and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
