Regular Season Round 5: PVSK-Veolia - Alba 79-47
Date: October 21, 2017
Sixth ranked PVSK-Veolia (3-2) crushed at home 9th ranked Alba (1-3) by 32 points 79-47, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by PVSK-Veolia. Alba was better in fourth quarter 20-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Alba to just 6 points in first and second quarters and to 12 points in first half. They outrebounded Alba 43-26 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. PVSK-Veolia looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Alba's players. Croatian forward Veljko Budimir (199-85) stepped up and scored 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Croatian center Marino Sarlija (207-89, agency: PEPI SPORT) chipped in 17 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American swingman Trevis Simpson (193-91, college: NC-Greensboro, agency: 3Eye) responded with 15 points and the other American import guard Kasey Hill (185-93, college: Florida) scored 7 points and 4 steals. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. PVSK-Veolia moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Atomeromu and DEAC. Defending champion Alba dropped to the eleventh position with three games lost. PVSK-Veolia will face bottom-ranked JP-Auto JKSE (#14) in Jaszberenyi in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Alba will play at home against the league's second-placed Szolnok and hope to win that game.
