Important game to mention about took place in Saint Petersburg. Eleventh ranked MBA Moscow (3-6) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 10th ranked Zenit-Farm (2-5) 73-71 on Monday evening. MBA Moscow forced 20 Zenit-Farm turnovers and outrebounded them 43-27 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international forward Sergey Toporov (197-81, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Pavel Afanasiev (201-96) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four MBA Moscow players scored in double figures. Guard Kiril Konovalov (195-97) replied with 13 points and 7 rebounds and Grigory Motovilov (194-98, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 15 points in the effort for Zenit-Farm. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. MBA Moscow moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Novosybirsk. Zenit-Farm lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. MBA Moscow will play against bottom-ranked Spartak St.Petersburg (#14) in Saint Petersburg in the next round where they are favorite. Zenit-Farm will play at home against Khimky-Podmoskoye and hopes to get back on the winning track.
