Regular Season Round 5: MBA-2 - Sparta&K-2 V 47-63

Bottom-ranked Sparta&K-2 V managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of three consecutive losses. This time they won against eighth-ranked MBA-2 in Moscow 63-47. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 16-point difference suggests that Sparta&K-2 V is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. They held MBA-2 to an opponent 21.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.2 percent accuracy of the winners. Sparta&K-2 V forced 20 MBA-2 turnovers and had a 37-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. Center Anastasia Zotkin (188-99) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and center Darya Kosulnikova (192-99) chipped in 7 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Ekaterina Koshechkina responded with 10 points and forward Pozdnyakova Anna (181-0) scored 6 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sparta&K-2 V (2-3) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Stavropol. MBA-2 at the other side dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. They share it with Dynamo-Farm and Neftyanik. Sparta&K-2 V will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. MBA-2 will play again at home against Sparta&K-2 V (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
