Regular Season Round 9: Kupol-Rodniki - Irkut 67-74

We should mention about the upset which took place in Izhevsk, where higher ranked Kupol-Rodniki (5-7) lost at home to twelfth ranked Irkut Irkutsk (4-9) 67-74 on Friday. Irkut Irkutsk looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Kupol-Rodniki's players. The former international power forward Alimdzhan Fedyushin (210-89) stepped up and scored 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and point guard Alexander Anisimov (187-86, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in 16 points. Four Irkut Irkutsk players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Aleksey Karpeko (204-89) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and forward Maksim Zakharov (198-89, college: E.Utah JC) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Irkut Irkutsk moved-up to tenth place. Kupol-Rodniki lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with seven games lost. Irkut Irkutsk will meet at home higher ranked Samara-SGEU (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kupol-Rodniki will play against Zenit-Farm (#13) in Saint Petersburg and hope to secure a win.
