Regular Season Round 9: Falco-Vulcano - ZTE KK 88-82

There was no surprise in Szombathely where 7th ranked ZTE KK (4-5) was defeated by third ranked Falco-Vulcano (6-2) 88-82. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 31-25 ZTE KK's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 88-82 at the end of the game. They outrebounded ZTE KK 43-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. Falco-Vulcano shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. International swingman Zoltan Perl (195-95) nailed 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and American point guard Darrin Govens (185-88, college: St.Joseph's) accounted for 15 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. Croatian power forward Ivica Radic (208-90, agency: XL Basketball Agency) came up with 18 points and 6 rebounds and the former international forward Zsolt Szabo (204-86) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for ZTE KK in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Falco-Vulcano. They maintain third place with 6-2 record behind leader Kormend. ZTE KK at the other side dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. Falco-Vulcano's next round opponent will be PVSK-Veolia (#6) in Pecs. ZTE KK will play at home against DEAC (#5) and hope to win that game.
