Regular Season Round 7: Zenit - Khimki-2 79-82

Sixth-ranked Zenit-2 (4-7) made lots of trouble for third ranked Khimki-2 (9-1) in Saint Petersburg. The visitors from Khimki managed to secure only three-point victory 82-79. However their fans expected easier game. Khimki-2 made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Zenit-2 turnovers. Zenit-2 was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Igor Volkhin (200-97) who helped to win the game recording 17 points. Power forward Sergey Klyuyev (207-98) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Yuliy Kalinin (198-98) answered with 14 points and 9 rebounds and forward Dmitriy Nechayev (198-98) added 12 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Zenit-2. Four Khimki-2 and five Zenit-2 players scored in double figures. Zenit-2's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Khimki-2 moved-up to second place. Zenit-2 at the other side keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Khimki-2 will play against Samara-2 (#4) at home in the next round. Zenit-2 will play against CSKA Junior in Moscow and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
