Regular Season Round 9: Kormend - Szolnok 76-74

The biggest surprise took place in Kormend where host Kormend (7-1) edged league's leader Szolnok (7-1) 76-74 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Szolnok. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 10 points after three quarters before their 25-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Andre Hollins (186-92, college: Minnesota, agency: 3Eye) who scored 21 points and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Steven Davis (203-93, college: Wright St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Kormend's coach Gasper Potocnik used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Quincy Ford (203-93, college: Northeastern) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and international swingman David Vojvoda (196-90) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Four Szolnok players scored in double figures. Kormend have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with defeated Szolnok. Szolnok will play next round against Kaposvari trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Kormend will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked KTE-Duna in Kecskemet.
