Very expected game in Surgut where 12th ranked MBA Moscow (2-9) was defeated by eighth ranked Universitet-Yugra (7-5) 107-91 on Monday. Universitet-Yugra dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to MBA Moscow's 40. They outrebounded MBA Moscow 35-24 including 21 on the defensive glass. Universitet-Yugra looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian Nikola Lepojevic (195-82, agency: BeoExcell) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Evgeny Karpeko (204-89, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who added 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Dmitry Korshakov (201-91) with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Pavel Afanasiev (201-96) scored 23 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. MBA Moscow's coach Alexander Afanasyev let to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Universitet-Yugra have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Novosybirsk and Ural Ekaterinb. MBA Moscow lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. Universitet-Yugra will face higher ranked Khimky-Podmoskoye (#5) in Khimki in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. MBA Moscow will play on the road against Novosybirsk (#6) and hope to win that game.
