There was a minor upset in Novosibirsk where higher ranked Dynamo NR (3-5) was defeated by tenth ranked Inventa (3-5) 64-52 on Thursday. The best player for the winners was Olga Frolkina (185-97) who scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Kristina Safonova (183-97) chipped in 12 points. Inventa's coach Elena Shakirova used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Nigerian forward Evelyn Akhator (190-95, college: Kentucky) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and Canadian point guard Miah-Marie Langlois (173-91, agency: LBM Management) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Inventa moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Dynamo NR and Kazanochka. Inventa will meet at home higher ranked Enisey Krasnoyarsk (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Dynamo NR will play against Enisey Krasnoyarsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
