The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Samara-SGEU as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Samara-SGEU defeated 12th ranked Spartak St.Petersburg at home 83-69. 27 personal fouls committed by Spartak St.Petersburg helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Power forward Evgeny Fidiy (207-91) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Ukrainian center Ievgen Minchenko (213-94) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Daniil Karvanen (200-98) produced 15 points and 8 rebounds and guard Roman Lagutin (195-95) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Samara-SGEU (11-2) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted Spartak St.Petersburg keeps the twelfth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Ryazan. Spartak St.Petersburg will play next round against strong Spartak-Prim. trying to get back on the winning streak. Samara-SGEU will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Ural Ekaterinburg at home.
