We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Vasas Akademia (2-6) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked PEAC-Pecs (2-5) 82-72 on Sunday. The game without a history. PEAC-Pecs led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. PEAC-Pecs outrebounded Vasas Akademia 42-24 including 28 on the defensive glass. Vasas Akademia was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Nigerian forward Sarah Imovbioh (188-92, college: S.Carolina) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds. Serbian Maja Vucurovic (187-91, agency: ProDep Management) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five PEAC-Pecs players scored in double figures. Nigerian-American guard Ezinne Kalu (173-92, college: Savannah St.) produced 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Serbian power forward Jefimija Karakasevic (191-89) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. PEAC-Pecs moved-up to eighth place. Vasas Akademia lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. PEAC-Pecs will face bottom-ranked BEAC-Ujbuda (#11) in Budapest in the next round.
