Regular Season Round 13: Samara - Neftyanik 79-83

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Samara (7-4) against fourth ranked Neftyanik (6-5) on Monday night. Host Samara was defeated by Neftyanik in a tough game in Samara 79-83. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Samara. Neftyanik dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Samara's 30. They outrebounded Samara 57-40 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Kseniya Kornienko nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 25 rebounds for the winning side and center Nadezhda Matrosova (185-93) accounted for 22 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Yulia Poluyanova (191-92) came up with 15 points and 9 rebounds and guard Irina Kiseleva (175-93) added 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Samara in the defeat. Four Neftyanik and five Samara players scored in double figures. Samara's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Neftyanik maintains fourth place with 6-5 record. Samara at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost. Neftyanik will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Samara will play again at home against Neftyanik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
