Regular Season Round 15: Samara - UMMC Junior 81-62

The game between second ranked UMMC Junior (9-4) and fourth ranked Samara (8-5) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. UMMC Junior was crushed by Samara in Samara 62-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of UMMC Junior. They outrebounded UMMC Junior 48-31 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for power forward Victoria Sazonova (186-96) who led her team to a victory with 9 points and 9 rebounds. Svetlana Boykova (182-96) contributed with 8 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Ekaterina Ilinova (178-95) answered with 22 points and 4 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) and international point guard Viktoriia Zavialova (166-98) added 13 points in the effort for UMMC Junior. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Samara moved-up to third place, which they share with Neftyanik. UMMC Junior at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Samara is again looking forward to face league's second-placed UMMC Junior in Ekaterinburg in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. UMMC Junior will have a break next round.
