Regular Season Round 10: MTK - ZTE NKK 64-75

Date: December 9, 2017
Very expected game when 10th ranked MTK (1-8) lost to fourth ranked ZTE NKK (6-3) in Budapest 64-75 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-64. ZTE NKK dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to MTK's 28. ZTE NKK forced 24 MTK turnovers. Romanian power forward Elisabeth Pavel (191-90) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Chucky Jeffery (178-91, college: Colorado) supported her with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Four ZTE NKK players scored in double figures. Even 20 points and 5 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) by international point guard Bernadett Horvath (170-96, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for MTK. Flora Szabo (187-92) added 19 points and 5 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) for lost side. MTK's coach Nagy Dora tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. ZTE NKK moved-up to third place, which they share with Sopron Basket. MTK lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with eight games lost. ZTE NKK will meet at home league's second-placed UNI Gyor in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. MTK will play against Cegledi EKK (#6) and hope to win that game.
