Regular Season Round 9: Fribourg - Riva 77-48

SBL top team - Fribourg (8-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifth ranked Riva (3-6) 77-48. Fribourg dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Riva's 26 and made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Fribourg forced 19 Riva turnovers and outrebounded them 39-20 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Belgian point guard Noemie Mayombo (170-91, agency: LBM Management) nailed 22 points and 6 assists for the winning side and the former international power forward Marielle Giroud (181-87, college: Franklin Pierce) accounted for 9 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Kelly Moten (173-93, college: Emporia St.) came up with 19 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Elan Brown (183-91, college: Vanderbilt) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Riva in the defeat. Riva's coach Walter Montini gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Fribourg maintains first place with 8-1 record. Riva lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Fribourg will play against Helios (#7) in Vetroz in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Riva will play at home against Geneve Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
