Regular Season Round 9: APOP - AEK 62-81

Division A top team - AEK (7-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked APOP (1-7) in Paphou 81-62. AEK dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to APOP's 28. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by APOP's players. American power forward Devin Searcy (208-89, college: Dayton) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and Serbian forward Danilo Tasic (207-93, agency: 011 Sports) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. AEK's coach Dmitris Kukuris allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Tracy Abrams (188-92, college: Illinois) with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import power forward Will Artino (211-92, college: Creighton, agency: KMG Sports Management) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. AEK have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-1 record, which they share with Keravnos. APOP lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. AEK will play against Etha (#3) in Nicosia in the next round, which may be the game of the day. APOP will play on the road against Apoel (#4) in Nicosia to get more than just one victory in their record.
