The game in Nizhny Novgorod was also quite interesting. Second ranked Khimki-2 (12-1) played at the court of 8th ranked N.Novgorod-2 (3-11). Khimki-2 did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 103-84 on Friday. Khimki-2 shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Khimki-2 made 8 blocks. Point guard Elkhan Akhmedov (184-98) scored 18 points and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Ivan Evstigneev (193-99) chipped in 22 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Five Khimki-2 players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Kiril Poponin (196-98) responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds and guard Nadir Eksanov (190-98) scored 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Khimki-2 have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. N.Novgorod-2 lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 11 games lost. Khimki-2 will meet Unics-2 (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. N.Novgorod-2 will play against Enisey-2 (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
