Regular Season Round 12: MAFC - Alba 54-79
Date: December 22, 2017
There was no surprise in Budapest where 12th ranked MAFC (3-9) was crushed by fifth ranked Alba (7-4) 79-54. The game without a history. Alba led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Alba outrebounded MAFC 40-26 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by the former international power forward Peter Lorant (206-85, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored that evening 15 points and 9 rebounds and American swingman Trevis Simpson (193-91, college: NC-Greensboro, agency: 3Eye) supported him with 17 points and 4 assists. Four Alba players scored in double figures. Alba's coach Branislav Dzunic felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 20 points by British power forward Will Neighbour (210-90, college: UALR, agency: HMS) did not help to save the game for MAFC. Serbian power forward Dusan Cvetkovic (205-89, agency: BeoBasket) added 10 points and 8 rebounds. Alba have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Falco-Vulcano. MAFC at the other side keeps the twelfth position with nine games lost. Alba's next round opponent will be league's leader Kormend at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. MAFC will play against JP-Auto JKSE (#13) in Jaszberenyi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
