Ninth-ranked Vasas Akademia (2-9) made lots of trouble for sixth ranked Miskolc (6-5). Miskolc managed to secure only three-point victory 79-76. However their fans expected easier game. Vasas Akademia was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 30-23 second half run of Miskolc. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Vasas Akademia to just 7 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Vasas Akademia 39-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Miskolc players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The winners were led by American guard Kirby Burkholder (183-92, college: JMU) who scored that evening 28 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and Czech forward Tereza Peckova (190-87) supported her with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Four Miskolc players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 4 assists by Nigerian-American guard Ezinne Kalu (173-92, college: Savannah St.) did not help to save the game for Vasas Akademia. Serbian power forward Jefimija Karakasevic (191-89) added 15 points and 8 rebounds. Vasas Akademia's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Miskolc moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Cegledi EKK. Vasas Akademia lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with nine games lost. Miskolc's next round opponent will be higher ranked Sopron Basket (#3) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. Vasas Akademia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Budapest to the arena BEAC-Ujbuda.
