Regular Season Round 13: BEAC Ujbuda - Vasas Akademia 64-88

Bottom-ranked BEAC-Ujbuda (0-12) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 88-64 loss to ninth ranked Vasas Akademia (3-9) in Budapest. The game was mostly controlled by Vasas Akademia. BEAC-Ujbuda was better in third quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vasas Akademia forced 19 BEAC-Ujbuda turnovers and outrebounded them 48-36 including 19 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian power forward Jefimija Karakasevic (191-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 19 rebounds and 4 blocks. The former international guard Vivien Borondy (175-95) contributed with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Vasas Akademia players scored in double figures. Forward Krisztina Sule (178-87) answered with 9 points and 8 rebounds and center Timea Gyorgy (185-97) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for BEAC-Ujbuda. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vasas Akademia maintains ninth place with 3-9 record. BEAC-Ujbuda lost their twelfth game in a row. They still close the standings with 12 games lost. Vasas Akademia will play against higher ranked UNI Gyor (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BEAC-Ujbuda's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Budapest MTK.
