Regular Season Round 14: Parma-2 - Unics-2 73-68

Round 14 in VTB-Youth means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Perm where host Parma-2 (9-14) beat league's leader Unics-2 (16-6) 73-68 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Unics-2. Parma-2 forced 22 Unics-2 turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Aleksandr Platunov (192-97) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 9 rebounds, 10 assists and 9 steals. Forward Sergey Shirokov (202-97) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Sergey Krivykh (182-98) produced 23 points and 6 rebounds and Artem Ivanov (193-98) added 17 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Unics-2's coach Andrei Kibenko tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Parma-2 went down to sixth position due to points difference. Unics-2 at the other side dropped to the third place with six games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Khimki-2. Unics-2 will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Parma-2 will try to continue on its current victory against first ranked Khimki-2 at home.
