The game between closely ranked teams ended with eleventh ranked Kupol-Rodniki's (9-15) home victory over 12th ranked Spartak St.Petersburg (6-16) 78-73. Kupol-Rodniki players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a very good performance for point guard Ilya Podobedov (184-91) who helped to win the game recording 18 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Center Aleksey Karpeko (204-89) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Slovenian center Radoslav Pekovic (215-94) answered with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Andrey Semenov (200-90, college: JMU) added 10 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Spartak St.Petersburg. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Kupol-Rodniki moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Khimky-Podmos. Spartak St.Petersburg lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Kupol-Rodniki's next round opponent will be higher ranked Ural Ekaterinburg (#5) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Spartak St.Petersburg will play against Ryazan (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
