Rather expected game when 5th ranked Enisey Krasnoyarsk (5-6) was defeated on the road by second ranked UMMC Ekaterinburg (12-1) 74-58 on Saturday. UMMC Ekaterinburg dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Enisey Krasnoyarsk's 22 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Enisey Krasnoyarsk 47-35 including 39 on the defensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. Center Brittney Griner (203-90, college: Baylor) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Maya Moore (183-89, college: Connecticut) chipped in 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four UMMC Ekaterinburg players scored in double figures. Guard Shannon McCallum (177-87, college: Charlotte) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Jacinta Monroe (196-88, college: Florida St.) added 6 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Defending champion maintains second place with 12-1 record having just one point less than leader Dynamo K. Loser Enisey Krasnoyarsk dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. UMMC Ekaterinburg will face Kazanochka (#5) on the road in the next round. Enisey Krasnoyarsk will play against Spartak Vidnoye and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
