Regular Season Round 24: Nika - UMMC Junior 98-89

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Nika (12-6) beat 5th ranked UMMC Junior (10-8) in Syktyvkar 98-89. Nika made 26-of-30 charity shots (86.7 percent) during the game. Nika outrebounded UMMC Junior 40-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. UMMC Junior was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Yana Kotova (186-88) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 8 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and forward Kseniya Andreeva (185-92) who added 25 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was international point guard Viktoriia Zavialova (166-98) with 31 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and Ekaterina Ilinova (178-95) scored 23 points. Five Nika and four UMMC Junior players scored in double figures. Nika have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-6 record having six points less than leader Rostov. UMMC Junior lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with eight games lost. Nika will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. UMMC Junior will play at home against Stavropol (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
