Regular Season Round 24: Stavropol - Samara 60-58

The most exciting game of round 24 in the Superleague 1 took place in Stavropol. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Samara (11-9) to seventh ranked Stavropol (8-12) 60-58 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Samara. Strangely Samara outrebounded Stavropol 43-22 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for point guard Galina Lyashenko (172-91) who led her team to a victory with 23 points. Albina Khamitova (186-94) contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Guard Irina Kiseleva (175-93) replied with 10 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Anastaiya Kuplinova (175-96) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Samara. Samara's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Stavropol maintains seventh position with 8-12 record. Samara at the other side keeps the third place with nine games lost. Stavropol are looking forward to face higher ranked UMMC Junior (#5) in Ekaterinburg in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Samara will play at home against Dynamo-Farm and is hoping to win this game.
