Regular Season Round 17: MAFC - Falco-Vulcano 78-88

Date: January 27, 2018
Very predictable result in Budapest where third ranked Falco-Vulcano (11-5) defeated 13th ranked MAFC (3-14) 88-78 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Falco-Vulcano. MAFC managed to win fourth quarter 30-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Falco-Vulcano had a 35-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Darrin Govens (185-88, college: St.Joseph's) who scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import guard Julian Norfleet (188-91, college: Mt.St.Mary's) chipped in 23 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Montenegrin guard Amin Hott (192-92) produced 20 points and 8 assists and American forward Toney McCray (196-89, college: Nebraska) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. MAFC's coach Jovica Arsic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Falco-Vulcano maintains third place with 11-5 record having just three points less than leader Szolnok, which they share with Alba. MAFC lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. Falco-Vulcano will meet at home league's second-placed Kormend in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. MAFC will play against DEAC (#11) in Debrecen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
