Regular Season Round 14: Winterthur - Bellinzona 84-64

The most important game in the last round took place in Winterthur between third ranked Bellinzona (8-6) and fifth ranked Winterthur (8-6) on Saturday night. Bellinzona was crushed by Winterthur on the road 64-84. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Bellinzona. Winterthur shot 60.9 percent from the field and made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Winterthur forced 19 Bellinzona turnovers. Strangely Bellinzona outrebounded Winterthur 35-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Winterthur especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. 24 personal fouls committed by Bellinzona helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. German guard Paulina Koerner (175-96, college: Columbia) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American swingman Quiera Lampkins (175-95, college: Ohio, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Winterthur players scored in double figures. American forward Jessica Jackson (192-95, college: Arkansas) replied with 25 points and 8 rebounds and her fellow American import forward Chastity Reed (185-89, college: UALR) added 20 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Bellinzona. Winterthur moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Bellinzona.
