Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Budapest: Vasas Akademia (#9) and MTK (#10). MTK was defeated at home 69-78 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. MTK was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 28-11 third quarter run of Vasas Akademia. They made 18-of-22 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Vasas Akademia outrebounded MTK 45-25 including a 15-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by Nigerian-American guard Ezinne Kalu (173-92, college: Savannah St.) who scored that evening 26 points and 4 assists and Serbian power forward Jefimija Karakasevic (191-89) supported her with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Four Vasas Akademia players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 19 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists by forward Lilla Adamecz (182-92) did not help to save the game for MTK. Flora Szabo (187-92) added 20 points and 4 steals for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vasas Akademia maintains ninth position with 4-11 record. MTK at the other side keeps the tenth place with 13 games lost. Vasas Akademia's next round opponent will be higher ranked Cegledi EKK (#7) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. MTK will play against the league's second-placed Sopron Basket having rather not much hope for a victory.
