Regular Season Round 17: Etha - APOP 88-97

Bottom-ranked APOP managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time newly promoted APOP won against fifth-ranked Etha in Nicosia 97-88. APOP made 35-of-39 charity shots (89.7 percent) during the game, while Etha only scored nineteen points from the stripe. APOP players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Etha was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Tracy Abrams (188-92, college: Illinois) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard James Milliken (188-93, college: Creighton, agency: SDJ Sports) contributed with 29 points and 7 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Center Tony Woods (211-90, college: Oregon) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and guard Malcolm Brooks (196-92, college: CS Fullerton) added 29 points in the effort for Etha. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. APOP (3-12) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Apollon. Etha lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with nine games lost. APOP will play against higher ranked Apoel (#3) in Nicosia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Etha will play on the road against the league's leader AEK in Larnaca and hopes to get back on the winning track.
