Very expected game when 11th ranked Winterthur (2-17) was crushed on the road by seventh ranked Monthey (10-10) 114-59 on Saturday. Monthey dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Winterthur's 26. They outrebounded Winterthur 42-20 including a 27-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Monthey looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Winterthur's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian center Uros Nikolic (207-87, agency: BeoExcell) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Markel Humphrey (198-86, college: Marshall, agency: 3Eye) who added 17 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Five Monthey players scored in double figures. Coach Branko Milisavljevic's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American forward Bakari Copeland (198-95, college: Md-E Shore) responded with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Jeyvi Miavivululu (201-90, college: Felician) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Boncourt. Winterthur lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 17 games lost. Monthey will face bottom-ranked Lakers (#12) in Vevey in the next round where they are favorite. Winterthur will play on the road against the league's second-placed Geneve Lions and hope to win that game.
