Regular Season Round 20: Starwings - Lakers 62-86
Date: February 10, 2018
Bottom-ranked Lakers managed to get a second victory, breaking the eighteen-game losing streak. This time newly promoted Lakers outleveled tenth-ranked Starwings in Basel 86-62. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 24-point difference proves that Lakers was well-prepared to that game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Starwings' 22. Lakers players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The winners were led by swingman Axel Louissaint (197-96) who scored that evening 15 points and 9 rebounds and Senegalese center Mansour Kasse (208-92) supported him with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Four Lakers players scored in double figures. Lakers' coach Dragan Andrejevic felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 17 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) by German center Bjoern Schoo (213-81, college: Northern St.) did not help to save the game for Starwings. Serbian-Montenegrin center Nemanja Calasan (204-85, college: Purdue, agency: HMS) added 12 points and 12 rebounds for the hosts. Newly promoted Lakers maintains twelfth position with 2-18 record. Starwings at the other side keep the tenth place with 15 games lost. Lakers will play against higher ranked Monthey (#6) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Starwings will play against Swiss Central (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
