VTB-Youth top team - Samara-2 (22-6) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed ninth ranked N.Novgorod-2 (9-21) in Nizhny Novgorod 93-68. Samara-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to N.Novgorod-2's 32. They outrebounded N.Novgorod-2 47-28 including a 29-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Samara-2 looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for center Victor Nesterov (202-99) who led his team to a victory with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Filip Stoyko (200-98) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Center Vladimir Byrdin (206-99) replied with 12 points and 5 rebounds and forward Kiril Poponin (196-98) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for N.Novgorod-2. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Samara-2 have an impressive 15-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 22-6 record. Loser N.Novgorod-2 keeps the ninth place with 21 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
