Regular Season Round 30: Zenit-Farm - Spartak SP 83-89

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Saint Petersburg: Spartak St.Petersburg (#12) and Zenit-Farm (#13). Zenit-Farm was defeated at home 83-89 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The best player for the winners was Slovenian center Radoslav Pekovic (215-94) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds. American guard Jimmy Gavin (190-91, college: Winthrop) chipped in 24 points and 4 assists. Four Spartak St.Petersburg players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Grigory Motovilov (194-98, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who recorded 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and swingman Ruslan Tumanov (195-91, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 16 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Spartak St.Petersburg maintains twelfth position with 8-20 record. Zenit-Farm lost third consecutive game. Zenit-Farm at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the thirteenth place with 24 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
