Rather predictable result when ninth ranked MBA Moscow (15-18) beat at home 12th ranked Spartak St.Petersburg (9-24) 90-75 on Tuesday. MBA Moscow forced 19 Spartak St.Petersburg turnovers. The best player for the winners was power forward Alexei Kuznetsov (205-84) who scored 24 points. Forward Dmitry Korshakov (201-91) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Five MBA Moscow players scored in double figures. Forward Denis Hloponin (206-81) produced 21 points and 6 rebounds and guard Yan Sobolev (185-96, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. MBA Moscow maintains ninth place with 15-18 record. Spartak St.Petersburg lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 24 games lost. MBA Moscow will face higher ranked Ural Ekaterinburg (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Spartak St.Petersburg will play against Novosybirsk (#6) and hope to win that game.
