Regular Season Round 20: MTK - UNI Gyor 49-75

Very expected game in Budapest where 10th ranked MTK (2-16) was crushed by third ranked UNI Gyor (13-5) 75-49. The game without a history. UNI Gyor led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding MTK to just 6 points in fourth quarter. UNI Gyor dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to MTK's 26. UNI Gyor forced 22 MTK turnovers and outrebounded them 41-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Czech center Kamila Stepanova (191-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 7 rebounds. International guard Zsofia Simon (181-89, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 14 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four UNI Gyor players scored in double figures. Forward Lilla Adamecz (182-92) replied with 9 points and 7 rebounds and Flora Szabo (187-92) added 7 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for MTK. MTK's coach Nagy Dora gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. UNI Gyor maintains third position with 13-5 record having five points less than leader Sopron Basket. MTK lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 16 games lost. UNI Gyor's next round opponent will be Cegledi EKK (#6) at home. MTK will play against ZTE NKK (#4) in Zalaegerszeg and hope to win that game.
