The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked APOP's (3-14) road loss to sixth ranked Apollon (4-12) 76-92. Apollon dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to APOP's 32 and made 23-of-30 charity shots (76.7 percent) during the game. Apollon players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American-Jamaican power forward David Samuels (203-92, college: Long Beach St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. Nigerian center Peter Olisemeka (204-91) accounted for 21 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winning side. Five Apollon players scored in double figures. American forward Aron Nwankwo (203-92, college: Pittsburgh) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import forward Justin Martin (198-90, college: SMU) added 21 points and 6 rebounds respectively for APOP in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Apollon maintains sixth place with 4-12 record. Newly promoted APOP stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Apollon will play against league's leader AEK in Larnaca in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. APOP will have a break next round.
