An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Khimki. First ranked Khimki-2 faced 4th placed Unics-2. Host Khimki-2 (28-6) defeated guests from Kazan (20-14) 85-67. Khimki-2 forced 19 Unics-2 turnovers. Strangely Unics-2 outrebounded Khimki-2 45-32 including a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Unics-2's players. Khimki-2 brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Ilya Karpenkov (203-97) who led the winners and scored 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Elkhan Akhmedov (184-98) accounted for 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Forward Aleksey Pasechnik (197-97) came up with 20 points and 5 rebounds and center Semen Pinaev (208-99) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Unics-2 in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Khimki-2. They maintain first place with 28-6 record. Unics-2 lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourth position with 14 games lost. Khimki-2 will have a break next round. Unics-2 will play on the road against Enisey-2 (#10) in Krasnoyarsk and hope to win that game.
