Regular Season Round 37: MBA-2 - Stavropol 66-47

Bottom-ranked MBA-2 managed to get a eighth victory, breaking the series of four consecutive losses. This time they outleveled seventh-ranked Stavropol in Moscow 66-47. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 19-point difference proves that MBA-2 was well-prepared to that game. They also forced 20 Stavropol turnovers and outrebounded them 34-22 including a 24-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. MBA-2 players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Center Aleksandra Ivanova (189-99) stepped up and scored 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Ekaterina Evdokimova (177-0) chipped in 9 points. MBA-2's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Albina Khamitova (186-94) responded with 21 points and center Liudmila Maltseva (190-88) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. MBA-2 (8-21) moved-up to eighth place. Stavropol lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 19 games lost. MBA-2 will again play against higher ranked Stavropol (#7) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Stavropol will have a break next round.
