Bottom-ranked Winterthur (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 88-75 loss to eleventh ranked Lakers (3-2) in Vevey on Saturday evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Serbian point guard Jagos Matijasevic (194-93) stepped up and scored 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Steeve Louissaint (191-87) chipped in 14 points and 9 assists. Lakers' coach Dragan Andrejevic used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American center Deshawn Painter (205-90, college: ODU) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import forward Bakari Copeland (198-95, college: Md-E Shore) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lakers moved-up to eighth place in Places 7-12, which they share with Pully and Starwings. Winterthur lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost.
