Second Stage Round 5: Kaposvari - Szedeak 94-78

Date: April 24, 2018
The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Szedeak's (12-18) road loss to fourth ranked Kaposvari (15-15) 78-94 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Kaposvari. Szedeak was better in fourth quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kaposvari shot 61.4 percent from the field. Kaposvari outrebounded Szedeak 35-23 including 27 on the defensive glass. The former international power forward Roland Hendlein (206-86) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American guard Sterling Gibbs (188-92, college: Connecticut) chipped in 31 points. Four Kaposvari players scored in double figures. Guard Adam Wirth (191-93) responded with 35 points (!!!) and 4 steals (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and swingman Adam Kovacs (190-93) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kaposvari moved-up to third place in Division. Loser Szedeak keeps the fifth position with 18 games lost. Kaposvari will face league's leader PVSK-Veolia in Pecs in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Szedeak will play at home against the league's second-placed ZTE KK (#2) and hope to win that game.
