Eighth-ranked Lokomotiv-2 (0-2) gave a tough game to Zenit-2 (4-0) in Sankt Petersburg on Wednesday. Zenit-2 managed to secure only one-point victory 103-102. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 23-10 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Zenit-2 made 35-of-44 free shots (79.5 percent) during the game. 32 personal fouls committed by Lokomotiv-2 helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for center Vladislav Sharapov (205-99) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds. Denis Nikitin (-99) helped adding 21 points. The best for the losing side was guard Alexandr Shcherbenev (188-0) with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Zakhar Vedischev (196-0) scored 31 points and 4 assists. Five Zenit-2 and four Lokomotiv-2 players scored in double figures. Lokomotiv-2's coach Djordje Bagaric rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Zenit-2 will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Lokomotiv-2 will play on the road against Spartak SP-2 (#11) in Sankt Petersburg and hopes to get finally their first victory.
